HISTORY OF THE PUBLISHING HOUSE


1797

Baron Wilhelm von Heinrichshofen joins at the age of 15 the ?Keil'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung? in Magdeburg which was founded in 1795.

1807

Wilhelm von Heinrichshofen takes over the company and continues the business under his own name.

1840

Theodor von Heinrichshofen joins the company and expands the publishing activities with a music store.

1860

An art shop, picture gallery and music pawnshop consisting of more than 100 000 volumes is added to the activities.

1884

Adalbert von Heinrichshofen joins the company.

1890

A large new building is constructed in which a pianoforte trade is affiliated, representing prestigious brands like ?J. Bluether? and ?Steinway & Sons?.

1901

Acquisition of the publishers ?Siegel & Schimmel Verlag? (Berlin).

1902

Acquisition of the publishers ?Max Bahn Verlag? (Berlin) with more than 10 000 published books.

1905

Acquisition of the publishers ?Luckhardt's Verlag? (Stuttgart).

1912

Acquisition of the publishers ?Albert Ratke Verlag? (Magdeburg).

1924

Adalbert von Heinrichshofen divides the company into two separate companies. He himself continues to manage the publishing house in order to later on pass it to the son (Otto Heinrich Noetzel) of his daughter Charlotte who died at an early age. His son Theodor von Heinrichshofen received the rest of the company as a provisional heir.

1927

The ?Maestro-Series? of the ?Drei-Masken-Verlag? is taken over.

1932

Otto Heinrich Noetzel, grandson of Adalbert von Heinrichshofen, assumes control of the company.

1933

Acquisition of ?Edition Adler GmbH? (Berlin).


1937

Acquisition of ?Westend Verlag? (Berlin).


1948

Due to the adverse political circumstances, the publishing company in Magdeburg as well as the branch in Leipzig cannot be reconstructed or reopened respectively. The publishing company relocates to Wilhelmshaven.


1951

A printing company specialized on music supplies is established.


1953

?Otto Heinrich Noetzel Verlag? is founded in Wilhelmshaven.


1963

Acquisition of the publishing company ?Impero Verlag? (Wiesbaden).


1967

Acquisition of the publishing company ?Hera Verlag? (Wilhelmshaven). That company received the first publishing permit within the British occupation zone after World War II.


1968

Florian Noetzel senior joins the publishing company.


1969

Acquisition of ?Edition Vinzenz Hladky? (Vienna).


1971

Acquisition of the publishing company ?Sirius Verlag? (Berlin).


1983

Acquisition of the publishing company ?Dance Motion Verlag? (Bonn).


1985

The publishing company ?Heinrichshofen's Verlag? is divided into two separate companies, a sheet music publishing company and a book-publishing house. The company ?Heinrichshofen-Books? is founded.


1986

The publishing company ?Ars Musica? (Wilhelmshaven) is founded.


2017

Florian Noetzel junior joins the publishing company.
